THE SAN JUAN RIVER IS BACK!!!

The Bureau of Reclamation has just revised the release schedule from Navajo Lake into the San Juan River.  This schedule shows that the San Juan will be flowing @ 500 CFS by 6/25/08 instead of 7/2/08.  Our season has finally begun.  You can obtain details at our site and by calling us.

Water clarity has increased to almost 4' and is and improving daily...we are actually seeing the trout, which are strong, fat, and hungry.  With the lack of fishing pressure for the last 6 months, we are looking forward to a fabulous start.

Releases are made for the authorized purposes of the Navajo Unit, and to attempt to meet flow recommendations for the endangered fish in the San Juan River. If you have any questions, please contact Pat Page at (970) 385-6560 or e-mail him at ppage@uc.usbr.gov.

The San Juan river fishes well at all levels.  At 4000 cfs the river is still wadable in some areas. You have to be careful and you aren't going to fish the back side of the river.    The higher flow will concentrate  the fish, not spread them out.  We catch a lot of fish at the higher flows.   With a guide is the best way to fish the high water, but you can rent a drift boat also.
