From the Durango Airport Travel north to Colorado
Highway 172 and turn east heading through Ignacio. At the state
line the road will change from Colorado Highway 172 to New Mexico
Highway 511. Continue on New Mexico Highway 511 heading south
paralleling the Pine River fork of Navajo Reservoir. As you
continue on 511 you will cross Navajo Dam above the beginning of the San
Juan Quality Water. Follow Highway 511 downstream along the San
Juan River until you reach the intersection of Highway 173 in the town
of Navajo Dam, about 5.7 miles from the spillway at Navajo Dam.
Turn right on Highway 173 and go .4 miles to Abe's Motel.
To travel to Abe's from the City of Durango go South on Highway 550 to
the North side of Aztec, NM to Highway 173 (just under 35 miles).
Turn left (East) on Highway 173, travel 17.7 miles, cross Abe's Bridge
over the San Juan, Abe's Motel and Fly Shop will be on your right on the
South side of Highway 173.
